Tara FranzTara Franz, M.A Sociology, is a strategic thinker, analyst and problem solver with a passion for information, insight and action.

Since her first entrepreneurial endeavor as a founding partner in a computer firm at 20 years old, Tara has continued to challenge herself in new and bigger ventures as a Research Manager, Consumer Insight Specialist and Executive Director.

Franz took on her first Research Assistantship position with a large scale qualitative project of Alberta Inmigrants at the University of Calgary, interviewing over 200 individuals and families. After observing the participants use of Internet to not only keep in touch with families, but maintain a unique cultural identity she conducted an online study of the Inmigrants Internet behaviors. This study led to a published article in the Journal of New Media Studies, and a promotion to Research Associate.

She has since conducted both large and small scale research projects for social research and market research totaling over 10 years research experience that has touched local community associations and large scale corporations like Rolex, Panasonic, Pampers, Citibank and the City of Calgary Parks and Recreation.

Tara has a Masters degree in Sociology from York University with a focus in Qualitative research. Working on innovative qualitative research strategies throughout her bachelors and masters work Tara embarked on unique research projects that broke into a new way of looking at research participants, the research field and culture. Her work has focused primarily on the ever growing web culture where people alter and change their way of being, which Tara concluded meant that researchers needed to alter and change its approach to get at the core of this culture.

Tara was the Interim Executive Director for the Howe Sound Women’s Centre where she was able to use in her financial management, strategic planning and human resources skills along with her problem solving analysis to lead the organization for one year to it’s largest fundraising profits in history.

She is hoping to continue to use her leadership skills while moving back into her true passion for research, analysis and strategic action planning.

Tara Franz lives in Squamish, British Columbia Canada with her husband, son, cat and pug dog. She frequently enjoys climbing, hiking, biking and swimming with all of the family, with exception of the cat.
